    Concerts in the Sun languished in the vaults for 42 years, but it's now finally available on CD. The recording finds Cal Tjader in a state of transition between the West Coast cool jazz he helmed with Dave Brubeck and a full-blown commitment to integrating Afro-Cuban rhythms into jazz.

    One of them was this CD of previously unreleased concert material by Cal Tjader, with Willie Bobo and Mongo Santamaria. I've always been on the fence about this vibes player, but in the late 50s and early 60s, and when playing with these latin percussion luminaries, his recordings are remarkably good/5(2).
